Anyone looking for gauges?
« on: March 22, 2016, 22:15:38 pm »
I've converted my boat to standard instruments as my MMDC died, so I have a full set of gauges as well as the full gauge harness.  The instruments are for the 99/00 model year dash.

Can you provide information on what you replaced your gauges with? I am having trouble as well and would like to switch everything out. Thanks.

I ended up using sestar solutions (formerly teleflex) eclipse gauges as I thought that they matched the original feel of the dash the best.

http://www.seastarsolutions.com/products/instrumentation/instrumentation/eclipse/

You'll have to build a new wiring harness for the new gauges, but for the most part, it's pretty straight forward, and you can tap into the original wiring harness without having to cannibalize it too badly.  The one thing that I still haven't resolved is the temp/oil alarm, the oil pressure gauge wasn't compatible with the alarm, so if you want to keep it working, you'll need to add a second oil pressure sender.

I have pictures if you are interested, I started a thread here a year ago, and never got back to updating it with the pictures.  When I did mine I also did a rewire of the primary runs to the dash so that I could get rid of the voltage drop issues caused by the somewhat undersized original wiring.

What Tachometer did you use?   I seem to remember something about a 4 cylinder pulse signal. You can buy oil pressure alarm and water temp sender and use the orange wire as a NO circuit when key goes on the alarm will sound unless you use a time delay capacitor.

I used the 6k rpm tach, don't recall exactly what I set it to for #pulses, but it may have been the 4 cylinder setting. I just used the setting that matched what my timing light, and the toyota tech tool readout displayed.

If anyone is interested in spare gauges, here's what I have:

  • Used oil pressure gauge
  • Used voltmter
  • Used fuel guage
  • Used tach
  • Used speedo
  • Used engine temp gauge
  • New oil pressure gauge
  • New engine temp gauge
  • New voltmeter
  • MDC
  • MDC/Gauge wiring harness

I also have another used speedo, if someone needs a full set of guages.

I would be interested in some of these.
Specifically the tach, oil pressure and volt. PM sent.

Do you still have any of the used gauges?
My gauges are all working, but the clear lens and black rings have cracked on some of them.
Thanks, Randy

Hey Sammamish! Do you know still have the MDC (Message Center) and also, will work on 2000 X22? Ever since I had the boat, all the gauges work except for that one.

I think the message center in the x22 is different than the MDC, whuch is the brain for the gauges. You may be able to reach out to medallion to get one.
