Check Engine & Limp Mode?
« on: July 04, 2022, 22:07:02 pm »
Check engine light stays on before and after the start. Engine idles at 1600rpms. I can go forward and back but cannot increase speed (is this considered "limp mode"?). If I take it to a Lexus dealer, is there a specific scanner they need? If so what scanner will they need?

Techstream with a power plug into the 12 volt of the boat.

Or old vetronics scan tool .

I found it interesting that the port is labeled "OBD II" yet an OBD II scanner is of no value.  I guess its descriptive of the port type by not of the comm's protocol.

Upon further inspection, I discovered the throttle body motor has seized up. I will be rebuilding this one and see if that will fix the issue. Thanks all.

Send 6-12 volts the the motor. Then if it MOVES then try activating clutch . REVERSE POLARITY.

Then buy impact to loosen the s# 3 phillips screw.

Order a true factory motor no a sub.

Let me know

Capt RICK i TRIED BUT DI NOT CORRECT ISSUE

keep us posted on your progress! This will be an issue with all boats eventually. I have not had this failure in 3k+hours between 2 boats, 1800 on first boat and approx 1200 on second boat.

Problem Solved! After rebuilding the throttle body with all OEM parts, I am no longer in limp mode and no longer have a CEL! If anyone runs into this issue I can gladly walk you through the process.

So all you did was replace the throttle control motor?

Where there other parts you had to replace or just cleaned them up?
