prop for Epic 21

(1/1)

Batman163:
I bent the original prop (13x13 RH 4 blade) on my 99.  It was being used at sea level and ran great but I'm now selling the boat to a relative who lives outside of Park City, UT (6,500 feet )  can any one give me any idea if I should stay with the 13x13 or go to a 13x12.  Thanks

Acme seems to be a very popular option on this forum.  The biggest advantage is they send you a prop after going thoroughly over your boat, usage, events, altitude, etc.  Just do a search on ACME and you should get plenty of responses.

If you're interested in repairing the bent prop, Mike Meyer in Charleston, SC did a fantastic job on my prop for $115 + shipping a year ago.  Our '99 E22 uses an OJ Legend, 13" diameter, 13" pitch, 1" bore, right-hand, cupped, nibral, 3-blade prop by Johnson Propeller Company.  Mike not only straightened the prop, but he brought it back to spec, polished it and balanced it too.  With new plugs and the rebuilt prop, the boat went Wide-Open-Throttle from 42 mph @ 5150 RPM to 47 mph @ 5700 RPM (measured via calibrated GPS) = a huge improvement in performance.  Here's his link:

Checkout www.pitchblock.com (if you enjoy some technical info), and note that Mike 'makes prop repair tooling for other shops around the world'.  As a former GM engineer, Mike knows props!

Thanks for the info.  ACME seems to get the best comments from everyone in the forum plus other blogs I found.  I will send the old prop to your recommendation.  Thanks again.
