windshield door latch

Both my windshield door latch tabs are broken. I have two new ones but looking for advice on how replace. How to get the old rivets out and then install the new tabs. Does it require unscrewing any of the windshield door trim parts? Any advice would be helpful. Thanks.

drill rivet out with 1/8 " drill bit. Buy pop rivet gun, 1/8  short alum rivets and hold in place shim with business card so it will swivel. install rivet and squeeze till it pops.. or install #6 screw by 1/2 inch.
