Gas Guage...again
« on: September 07, 2006, 18:49:58 pm »
Hello all, after reading all the posts about the "great and reliable" guages we have in our boats I was wondering if anyone has a problem with the fuel gauge giving an accurate reading for the first 1/4 tank then it geeks out.  So my problem is that once I use more the a quarter to the tank the computer will start flashing that I have passed the  low fuel threshold.  Because of this I cannot access the depth at all (or any other feature).  Does this seem like an issue related to the geeked out gauges or something related to the in-tank float?  Let me know, thanks

What does the dial gas gauge read? Is it inaccurate? Maybe it's just that someone set the alarm to go off at 3/4 tank. If you look at the accuski manuals and manuals for the gauges, there is a way to change the oil alarm and the low fuel alarm to whatever values you want.

The dial guage is accurate when the tank is full but after about the first quarter of a tank it then geeks out and starts registering completly empty!  Hence, the computer flashes I am below the 2.7 gallon threshold...

Thanks

The sender may be bad. To check  , find sender wire plug and disconnect, above fuel tank, combine both wires going to the gauge using jumper, then turn key on =gauge should read full. If it doesnt look for bad ground and sender wire. If it is at full then bad sender. To replace sender you need to remove aft seat back remove 4 brackets on tank. doing this on a empty tank. tilt tank, r+r sender.

Or maybe it will start to work again.
