Swim Platform?
« on: October 12, 2006, 03:27:33 am »
Hey there.  I have kind of lurked around the board for awhile but have not posted to much.  My first question is what can I do with the swim platform.  I hate the matinence of the teak and I can remember seeing someone with a boat on here that had a swim platform that was coated in Line X just wondering if anyone has done this and what there feedback is.  Thanks alot.

Welcome Peachland, are you in GA? Don;t know if you caught this thread:

Don't be a stranger.

You could always buy the composite platform for like 700 clams. Maintenance does not sound so bad, huh...

Ya thats the thread I remembered ya.  Well I was hoping that line xing the teak one would be a cheaper alternative to the composite the line x dealer nearest to me is quite the drive so I want to make sure it is worth my while.

O and no im not from Georgia I am from Peachland, British Columbia, Canada it is a small town just outside Kelowna on Okanagan Lake and is unbelievable for boating.

Just cover it up or take it off and store inside when not in use...

I like the teak decks. It's the classic towboat look and adds some natural style IMO. You can clean it once a year with teak cleaner and brightner and a bristle brush in about 20 minutes. I found the oil doesn't do much once it gets wet. You can also just let it go gray. I take it off in the winter and store in garage during winterizing.

I also like that classic look of Teak. I spend about 30-45 per season on the platform. I us a product called TeakGuard. I like it and have turned a couple of more people on to it that think it is the way to go.
