I am please to tell all you epic lovers my Epic X22 is back in the lake ready category!!! A very good friend of mine (airplane machanic by day, epic mechanic by night) and myself have completed the task. And, I'll have her on Centerhill Lake north of Nashville on Labor day weekend.
If you can believe this- the number 8 cyclinder wasn't getting compression because of a cracked valve stem keep which prevented the valve from closing all the way. Cost 1 dollar 64 cents from Lexus. I replaced all 64 took the heads to a head shop and also replaced all the intake and exhaust valve stem seals. We had the engine torn down pretty far so we replaced all the head gaskets, intake and exhaust gaskets, and every other seal in between. Cleaned up the Engine - and put it all back together with the engine manual specs. We changed all the belts as well- the timing belt was a big thing to take on alone, not to mention all the other work. It was a HUGE project (not as big as the ireland guys but huge never the less.) We finished up putting the engine all back together this afternoon and droped the battery in and she started and ran better than ever. Temp kept steady at 160 range with the fake-a-lake hooked up. What a beautiful sounding boat!!!
The sound system I installed last summer puts out some aweomse sound as well. Its nice to be part of the epic community again. I ordered over 500 in parts from Capt Rick alone off this site- which included a new X22 graphics and a couple Toyota Marine Sport decals. I popped one of those on my 4runner. I live/work right on the lake and I have had two random guys stop and ask about the famous toyota epics. Amazing our boats are still creating a buzz amoung riders and weekend lake yuppies.
Wish I would of made the Round up last weekend - but if you guys have another in the near future I'll try and stop by. Still thinking about selling it for a hell of a deal if anyone is interested. She's paid off but would make a hell of a down payment on a house for a young guy like myself. Still open to offers... rds2p@mtsu.edu
