Epic 22 decal placement
« on: June 18, 2008, 18:08:52 pm »
I just purchased a 99 epic 22.  The original owner chose not to have the side decals applied.  I have the original decals and would like to put them on the boat, but i would like to get the placement exact.  Can someone who had the decals factory applied give me the measurements of where the top left corner of the "E" should start.   I think all i need is the distance down from the rub rail and distance from the stern.  Also, i look forward to being a contributing member of this forum. :)

I've gone in the opposite direction, at least for now.  I've taken off the Epic 22 decal.  Presently, the boat is naked, but I'm thinking of putting on a Toyota logo decal where the Epic 22 used to be.

I like it naked, my TrailBlazer is naked too (no body moldings, chevy decals, trim badges, etc) but my dad wants to keep the Epic 22 badge on the side of the Epic.  I pulled the "Ski Master Watersports" window stickers off last summer because they're not paying me to advertise for them plus they arent called Ski Masters anymore...

What about all of the warning stickers?  There are at least 10 spread around, 2 on the transom, 6 or 8 on the 'glass below the observers seat, etc.  I started pulling them off last night, but their not coming off very easy....i think i'm gonna try some "goo gone", any other ideas?

Goo-Gone is about your safest bet. Just take your time. The product is oil based so try to keep it from spilling, especially on carpet. Toyota has more disclaimer stickers. Like (be careful the sun is sunny). I peeled most of them off right after my purchase in 2000.

For removing stickers, WD-40 works quite well. On glass, spray it around and on the sticker, let it soak for a few moments, then use a razor blade... as long as you keep the glass wet, the blade will not scratch the glass and the stickers will come off entirely. I think the WD-40 is also safe around vinyl as long as you don't leave it there to sit for long periods of time. It works very well at removing the gum residue after removing stickers from glass and painted surfaces.

I used Goo-Gone on the rear badges and moldings on my TrailBlazer, that stuff is great.  Little to no scrubbing and all the gunk is off.  I still have all the warning stickers, in WA you're supposed to have a few WA ones for CO, wish I didnt have to have them but whatever.

i started the sticker removal process last night.  Wow those 9 year old sun baked sticker are brittle and a little difficult to remove.

Have you guys had any problems with your trunk latches.  I need to replace mine, but i'm not looking forward to pulling the lid apart.

I just replaced my trunk latch at the end of last year.  It really is pretty easy to do, but the plastic black cover that spans the entire bottom of the trunk lid was my problem.  There are a bunch of screws that bolt that thing on to the bottom, but it was so old, that many of the screws would break the plastic and thus not connect is properly.  I ended up just buying a new plastic thing and it fit like a champ.  Good luck with it.  I also installed the chrome locking latch on the trunk, but maybe that is the only one there is.
