I replaced my 1UZ Epic engine with a remanufactured engine due to an impeller coming apart getting into the water jackets and stopping up the holes around the port side rear cylinder head gasket. The ring on the piston broke and scored the cylinder from the overheating. The balance of the cylinders are okay. I didn't dig into the possibility of replacing a sleeve but that may be a possibility. I would expect the heads(cams & lifters), crank and really everything but the block to be useable if someone needed a replacement. I have no need for this core and want to sell. As I said I have the block, both heads with cams and lifters. The engine I bought had an automotive pan so I switched that out and it is on the core, otherwise everything is the same.
I am located in central NC. email me mark.skeen@gmail.com if interested and make an offer.
Lesson learned..... Keep your impeller replaced. The hole in the head gaskets, specifically at the rear of the engine are no larger than 1/4" so it doesn't take much to stop them up. If the impeller comes apart and gets in the block there is high probability that it will not get past the head gasket and out the exhaust. Pic of damaged cylinder is attached.
