Thermostat
« on: May 01, 2010, 11:28:38 am »
I looked at the thermostat and it looks ok, but I went and god a new one from autozone and it is 180 degree. (they don't have a 160 degree)  I read on the forum that this is too hot.  Is it ok to run it, or not.  I am not putting it in yet as the old one still works, but i don't want to wreck the engine either.  I run in fresh water only.

I think there are actually 2 holes in this thermostat.  you will see them drilled on the outer part of the case next to the rubber gasket>

yes there should be a lil hole on the outer surface of it. that should point up. but do not use that 180. your lights will come on and it will beep and you will mess that engine up. it does'nt have fans to help keep it cool. the 180 is for cars with a radiator and fans. that temp is for pollution controlled cars. the hotter it runs the more pollution it burns off.
