Take a picture of the rudder,inside the boat....  tiller arm and the rudder inside boat...Rudder and strut from aft looking forward.


While turning the wheel from port to starboard watch the bottom of the rudder in line with the shaft . See if the rudder moves from the axis. Possible bent rudder shaft.

I can tell you toyota never thought you should have to put a new steering cable in..  I pulled the gas tank and see the route the cable takes i'm installing a new cable is the cable supposed to be fastened somewhere under the tank right now when i turn the wheel the cable moves a bit has any one pulled a new cable on a v drive it looks a little tricky because it gos under the floor then up though a hole to the assembly. is there any good tricks
