Wakeboard Garage Storage
« on: December 14, 2010, 01:42:39 am »
Im not sure if there is a thread about this already or not, but I spent some time Sunday building some wakeboard racks in my garage.

I hung them above my garage door, in space I will never use for anything else.  It is a little bit of a pain to get them down because the door has to be down, and I need to use a ladder, but over all very easy and saves a lot of wall space.

Every thing I used is available at Home depot, and cost me a grand total for about $15. Basically all I did was screw 4 small eye bolts into the rafters spaced 20" wide and 48" long (for my board)  and run some small rope in between the eyebolts.  One side the rope is fixed to the eye bolts at both ends and the other end I fixed one side to the eye bolt and used a quick carabiner style hook on the other end.

I started out with the rope fairly loose, and then adjusted the rope with the board in place so it was as close I could get it to the ceiling but also allowing the fins to clear the ceiling when putting the board in and taking it out.

Parts list for one board:

4 - 1 1/4" eyebolts
1 - small carabiner style hook
4ft - 3/8" diameter nylon rope
12 - small zip ties for end clams on the rope.

Just thought I would share incase someone needed any storage ideas for their boards.  It's cheap, easy to do, saves space, and actually looks pretty cool when you are done.
