accuski for newbie
« on: December 25, 2010, 21:28:46 pm »
OK, I have this super cool SX now and loads to learn.  My next adventure is to figure out the Accuski.  I can configure and arm the Accuski from the DDU but do I inherently have a complete and functional cruise control or was that an add-on?  I do not have the foot switch ( I looked all over under the dash).  When I try to manually set the accuski by arming and engaging the throttle i don't get the graph shown in the manual.  I also have a connection under the dash that says accuski and is terminated with a silicone cover.

Where did the foot pedal connect to the system?

Was there a servo that actuated the throttle cable or did the DriveByWire interface to the ECM and control the throttle motor directly?

Any clues are appreciated.

my sx had both the foot pedal and the actuator. the actuator  was mounted near the throttle body. it did not use drive by wire. on my first epic e22 i added perfect pass. i heard accuski was not as good but when i upgraded to my sx i figured i would learn how to use it instead of spending $1100 right off the bat. boy was i WRONG !!!! yeah, i got it to work but its pretty much useless. its not accurate at all and will not hold a consistant speed. on top of that i was the only person on the boat who could get it to work on a daily basis. my best advise is TOSS IT. spend the money on perfect pass. its more than worth it. it super accurate, very easy to use and it will save your marriage and your friendships. seriously..... its the only way i could get a good pull. Ive had my friends 13 year old daughter drive the boat and pull me using the perfect pass. it VERY user friendly. not to mention our wakeboarding skills drastically improved from a consistant good pull. I'm so picky now i have the driver make 1/4 mph adjustments until i get that perfect speed. 22.3 mph. hahahaha ridiculous i know ;D

we that said if your gonna go for perfect pass the stargazer option is awesome. you don't have to drill a 2" hole in the bottome of your boat, but if frequent the river its useless. i opted for the paddle wheel. i didn't want to be limited. seriously its the best improvement you can put on your boat.

Alright, I am sold.  To sell my wife I will have to let her pull me manually for a few times and feign some acute annoyance at her driving "skills" until she decides we need the PerfectPass.  I presume I can get away with the cheaper DBW version, is that correct?

Cheers and thanks again WakeJunky!

at the time i looked, the DBW version was not available for our boats. it looks like they have some updated products now. I would give them a call. They are excellent to work with.
