Trailer Bearings
« on: March 21, 2005, 16:53:22 pm »
I have a tandem axle trailer year 2000.?

If anyone has the info to order new bearings and seals for my tandem axle trailer please post it up.

Last night while 50 miles from home the right rear bearing on the trailer decides to go out, inner and outer, and I was able to remove the hub, take it to the autoparts store and get new bearings but I still need a new Outer Seal and the axle cover aka bearing buddy because it was GONE.

NM, I called  Amera-Trail Trailers  at
407-892-1100 ask for Raymond and he'll get you everything you need.  Bearing covers with rubber nipple $1.45 each, bearing/seals $25 per set.  Inner Seals something like $3.

Anyone replaced inner seals on a single axle 6 lug trailer? The trailer maintenance doc does not distinguish on the seals, but I know my inner seal is larger than 2.33" I ordered kits from ameritrail several years ago and all bearings were correct but the inner seal is too large..I will call ameritrail but giving them a number might be helpful.

UPDATE:

I spoke to mark at Ameritrail and he was not surprised that they shipped inner seals that were too large as the single axle trailers they used to build for Toyota used UFP(Unique functionals Parts) parts and they are not standard size. I looked on etrailer.com and found the next size down from the "standard" 3.376 outer dim.

I ordered this one in hopes it will fit as it's 3.269 outer dim. Coincidentally, the part number is the same as on the trailer maintenance doc, 21325, but it's not a chicago rawhide reference number, it's the Transcom part number.

Anyway, I'll follow up once i make sure this actually fits and will save much hassle for you single axle folks.

UPDATE:

Confirmed that the inner seal for the single axle trailer is:

http://www.etrailer.com/Seals-for-Trailer-Bearings/Redline/21325.html

took it all apart, bearings looked GREAT. Replaced them anyway and repacked. Cyclone taught me how a few years ago and I remembered some of it.  :P  I should have taken pictures but i forgot and it was F-in HOT out...
