99 Epic Sudden death!
« on: June 22, 2012, 20:42:14 pm »
My tried and true Epic died today with a boat full of people and a wakeboarder in the water.  All power has died to everything.  Unswitched accessories dont work, no horn, bilge, blower.  Battery checks out with 12.7 volts.  Perko switch is fine..12.7 volts coming in and going out of switch.  Not a kill switch problem as that doesnt affect horn, etc.  Please help, have lake cabin full of anxious wakeboarders!!!!  Thanks

Have you checked the fuse near the perko? If so I'd still bet on a fuse somewhere

Thanks for the quick reply!  Even though I had read about the in line fuse, I could not see it.  Mine was routed UNDER the Perko switch.  It also is on the smaller red wire, not the main Battery cable.  Its hidden inside what looks like an electrical connector.  It's also an "Old School" tube type fuse,  There was a spare inside the connector.  Fuse was NOT blown, but corroded at both ends.  Put new fuse in and were good to go!!!

Glad you found it...

I had a similar problem, turned out the the wire going into the fuses that are by the battery had broken where it goes into the fuse terminal......

TSB-42 boat main fuse rewire... in the maintenence section. Get rid of that round fuse and go with the waterproof one in the TSB.
