installing DDU

I am installing a new ddu that I picked up a while ago since the my ddu screen has lost a number of line in it.  Is there a procedure to follow to install ?  When I hook the lines up and power up the ignition the DDU does not seem to be recognized by the system ?  thanks

Turn off battery switch.
install in series so the unit get power. There is a black terminator plug see if that is plugged in to loose wire of Digital dash.
Tuurn key to on does is there any display of epic and moel number. does the other gauges turn on?

DDU is now working (had plugs installed incorrectly).  I tried holding T down while turning key on to select boat model however the software does not seem to respond to this.   Captain Rick,  s there any way to reset/reboot the mmdc ? I think I made the mistake of hitting the master reset through the configuration screen on the DDU last year.
