Guage problems
« on: July 21, 2003, 02:51:42 am »
This weekend at Dale hollow lake, some A-HOLE had to pass 15 ft. from us while we were stopped. He was in some big cabin cruiser and SWAMPED the holy hell out of my boat!!!Not kidding we had 2" of standing water in the boat.
Anyway, after a while, all of my engine indications went to 0.No tach, speedo, temp, oil psi...nothing.After checking all of the wiring,I realized the MDC must have gotten some moisture in it from earlier.I thought my trip was over.I ended up pulling the negative battery cable off for a min.,put back on and all indications came back.,working fine.Don't know if this has happened to anyone, but if it does, give that a try.The MDC on my boat is under the dash.

Just turn the battery switch off and this will reset the computer.

I have found that full bottles of Corona hurled at oncoming cabin cruisers helps their pilots regain some common sense, not always but it's worth a try. That is definitely uncool to the point of being dangerous. Anything goes at that point, in my book. Good to know about the problems and symptoms just in case..

I have problems with my voltage, temp gauge, and some times at idle the oil pressure drops all the way to zero but its almost like it bounces. The boat has never been swamped, it stays in a storage unit, and i turn the battery switch off after every use. Any suggestions?

Does every Epic have this battery switch?  Where is it located?

Our '00 S22 has the switch located under the v-drive access cover. Once you're in there, it's just outboard of the v-drive on the starboard bulkhead.

Cool switch too, small with a removeable key.
