Thanks for the help, but I do need to clarify... There are two o rings one is on the bottom of the plug/cap at the filter. I'm having trouble with the Large one (2.690"x.230") at the top of the plug/cap. No matter what I try it doesn't fit back in the hole. I tried a little grease on it and pushed real hard while turning the cap. It just won't go. I thought maybe the o ring is a little hard (after 5yrs) but now I've damaged it. I've been to Home Depot, NAPA, Kragen, Motion Industries, McMaster Carr... any Ideas?

When you remove the plug turn the plug in the direction the arrow points to loosen. When the tab stops at the main housing keep turning the allen screw in the top of the cap. It will eventually release and start to come apart. It is like a sandwich with the O ring in the middle. It should come free and open up. To re-assemble make sure the upper and lower halves are seperated and the o ring is loose. Should set back in the main casting easily and then tighten down as the arrow indicates. The tab will stop at the main casting and allow you to continue to tighten the 2 halves together and expand the O ring for a snug fit.
It was a long learning curve for me also.

I've noticed my hurth  tranny starting to leak trans fluid from the same cap. It was a learning experience for me as well on how the cap fit and how to replace. I'm thinking the large o-ring needs to be replace as it does not fit as snugly. And body experienced anything similar? In addition how are others cleaning the metal mesh screen filter below the cap?
