Prop shaft packing on a vdrive s 22

Can you use different packing than Teflon or does it have to be Teflon?

I think the prop shaft packing in the Epics are similar to other inboard boats ( correct craft, malibu, etc. ) and can be replaced with the dripless type if you prefer.  There may even be a thread on here somewhere about doing the swap, I know I've seen other Epic owners mention they use dripless.

I was always taking on alot watter from the shaft and last summer went to the dripless, it cost $350 to have installed.
