Flashing switches, digital dash
« on: June 12, 2015, 19:47:35 pm »
Hello all,
I have been an epic owner since 2000 and own a millennium X22. The 6 switch panel is flashing as soon as the boat power is switched to the on position, the 4 switch panel is working properly. I have tried the test Rick mentions in another discussion dated June 11th. Even with the DECC disconnected at the wight plug the switch panel flashes. We have 12.4 volts and very clean ground. The panel was working then it started flashing and will not operate. Any help I could get to test or trouble shoot this would be greatly appreciated.

order
MGA0011916   SwitchPanel,6Button,00,01,02MY,TopPosition1To6,NotLabeled,w/Bezel   15    8    82.42    $15.00

either it will work or you will need a replacement decc ( or maybe it will accept reprogramming).

80% of the time a new switch may fix it.

Thank you, just ordered the part, if it doesn't fix it I'll let you know so we can send it in for reprogramming

My switches do that too.  Did the new switch panel do the trick?

Mine does it at night when I'm running nav lights and other accessories off that particular button panel. I don't actually lose the nav lights, outputs stay latched and turning them off and back on clears the condition, lights stop flashing, panel goes dark (selected Decc outputs still latched) then come back on, repeat. So, its quite obviously a temporary condition not a hard failure, in my case. I think it is communication related as Wakejunky was sayin back in the day. I'm going to find the serial communication wires to the decc from that panel and physically separate them, see whats what, it is a three wire serial link like rs232 and there's noise on it. Reprogramming and swapping switch panels won't fix an inherent emi noise issue on the comm buss.

Sorry for the late reply,
It did not fix the issue, however the panel is working again but not the nav light position. I've temporarily moved moved the nav lights to an open acc position on the 6 switch panel to get us through the summer, then I will send it to Rick to see if it can be reprogrammed. I've had this issue with the nav position since the boat was new, it would come and go and fault the panel so nothing would work, after cycling the battery it would work again. Lots about this issue on this site

Cyclone, My SX occasionally does the same as yours. It typically only happens at night when I have a number of accessories turned on (Nav lights, Interior lights, docking lights, transom light, etc). Like yours, the keypad blinks, but the operation of the accessories is not impacted. Come to think of it, I think it's only happened when I've turned on the docking lights as I'm pulling up to the dock.. That makes me think it has something to due with the current draw of the accessories. My docking lights are a toggle switch mounted above the throttle - I'm not sure how it interfaces with the other switch panels though.
