X22 DECC rewire project
« on: November 23, 2015, 03:28:29 am »
So the switch panel is giving me fits. Does not operate as it should. I would like to rewire the panel and get rid of the entire DECC, just use high current switches. Has anyone actually done this and do you have pictures? I have removed the system and bench tested it. For no specific reasons, the switches stop working, or the lights flash red. This is without any load.

If it is possible to replace the system with a different set up, I would need recommendations for parts and/or a company that could help me do this. I am attaching pictures of my current set up because it doesn't seem to be wired the same as the wiring diagram off the maintenance page. I appreciate any input. Thanks. Mike

I am developing a kit to replace the DECC  and the digital push buttons. It will be a done before the summer season. I have completed a BOM( bill of materials ) and wire schematic. Next is the plug to replace the existing white plug to make it a plug and play.

Ok I need someone to send their DECC with orange wires and the complete 6 and 4 button assembly so I can make a template of the dash buttons with the woodgrain panel,  if easier remove key switch and power plug.

I created the first prototype but want it to be more professional. The buttons will light when on.

If you have a broken accessory panel I will set yours up. I need the plastic panel with both buttons ( 6+4 )and power plug and key switch.

Thanks

Wow,
No offense, but thats a cobbled together bag of shit. Dang, do you own a ruler?

There are switches that will work that are smaller and don't look as third-world radio shack. I can point you to a company that I use to make faceplates for the guitar amps I make for rock dudes, definitely more expensive and infinitely better quality. www.frontpanelexpress.com

Don't try to do electronic prototyping and fab work, its just bad dude. I'm sure you have other talents, exploit them. I'd ask you to provide a schematic and I'd work it out, but....

No Offense taken!

I have ordered 2 different switch's and will finish the prototype. If you wish to make a pattern with your digital dash go to it. I am trying  to make this an easy kit to install.

I realize that was harsh. Sorry my expectations are pretty high. If you can tell me the types of switches you need to use (spst, spdt, dpdt) I will source some little weatherproof ones and design a panel that we can get manufactured, it can be drilled, engraved and backfilled,we can order one-offs. Cost for the panel will likely be 120$ or so but they look great. Thats not counting switches or wiring

Any chance this could be done by the end of April? I am working to get the boat back together and will need it for events starting in May. Would like to see the whole thing plug right into the existing connector. Let me know if I can help in any way. I have a little experience wiring, but mostly car stereos.
