Thermostat Update
« on: October 11, 2015, 05:24:35 am »
For those that are still looking to replace their aging thermostats, here what I have found out.

90916-03113 is the OEM thermostat for our boats, I bought this one many moons ago and it's no longer available thru Capt. Rick. The TRD PTR04-35050 is the same thermostat and it's what many racing teams are using. As you can see, the TRD is a bit taller but that should not be an issue as the back of the thermostat goes into the cavity of the cooling system.

Here are the dimensions;

               Toy             TRD
O.D.        2.208         2.008
Height     2.375         2.625
Lip            .115           .115
thickness
Temp        71* (160)   71*  (160)
They both have the same gasket.

Now, the not so good news. The TRD thermostat runs around $60 dollars  :o. I got lucky and bought this one on eBay for $29.

Corrected the OD on the TRD, they are both the same.

HCollado,

Did you run into any installation issues?

How is the boat running?

I installed my TRD thermostat last night. Fits very well. Will have to wait another couple weeks before I turn over the motor for a function check.

Has anyone run the TRD option yet? I have the STANT installed and the engine is running hotter than I'm used to with the old factory thermostat I bought from Capt. Rick a few years ago.

Thanks!
