Volt Meter issues?

At the end of last summer my 99 E-22 was having issues with the volt meter.
Idle 12.8 volts.........3000 rpm 9.5 volts. all other gauges work. Bad Gauge?
Checked two alternators. both were good. any ideas? Oh looking forward
to another awesome year with my Epic.

Well the 1999 uses a MDC it is NLA. If the only gauge is bad then you can order replacement

manufacture stopped making it.

All gauges when the key is on should pulse and zero out.

I would measure at the dash wirh a volt meter and see what you get. If its 13+ volts with the engine running you are good, and could replace the gauge with a standard marine gauge. You can also remove the MDC and go with all standard gauges. It's not super hard but you need to be relatively handy with a crimper. I have images from swapping out my gauges I can share.

Sammamish I would like to see how you configured the wiring harness after removal of the MDC for the analog gauges good sir!

I went through the pictures I have, somehow, I don't have pictures of the harness, or I managed to delete it. I'll shoot one the next time I take the cover off the boat. I have however attached a picture of the new gauges and old gauges, and a picture of half of the factory harness connector that leads to the MDC where I made the cuts and spliced in the new gauges.  The red cylinder is the warning alarm for oil pressure/temp, and it  wasn't compatible with the sierra oil pressure gauge I used, so I unplugged it since it connected in the middle of the factory harness, and could be removed and the two plugs in the harness plugged together. The wiring colors are:

Dark Blue - Dash/gauge Lights
Pink - Fuel Gauge
Gray - Tach
Tan - Temp Gauge
Light Blue - Oil Pressure
Purple - 12v hot when ignition on used to power gauges


 Note that the "after" picture is before I put in the GPS speedo as it arrived about a month after.

Same problem here but My message center (digital on right) and volt meter on left show low voltage on acceleration and higher speeds.
