Digtal Info Display
« on: January 02, 2005, 21:57:33 pm »
My digital info display went bad last year.  The display is riddled with blank lines which makes the info hard to read.  I tried to get my local dealer (Ski-Masters, WA) to get me a quote on a replacement -- no luck.

Has anyone else had problems with their display?  When I was first researching the boat I think I found the display maker.  It looks like it's generic and then programmed with the Toyota logo.  Anyway I'm looking for a replacement.

I've got a few of them blank lines, too. The unit is called the Message Center, and can be procured through a former TMS dealer, or over the phone with Atlanta Marine, or maybe directly through Accuski (dot com.) Not sure how much they cost, but would like to know ;-)

Sometimes when the display is exposed to heat and direct sunlight the lines will appear. If the unit is cooled it may work again. Or order new one? or send to Kyser medalian.

I have had the problem with the lines as well.  I think it is related to direct sunlight on the lcd readout.  It goes away after a while.  I'm going to try and get mine replaced before my warranty expires.

I thought the factory warranty was 2years.  Do you have an extended warranty?

Hijack.

Sseiber, welcome to the site.  There are so many washingtonians joining this site lately. I love it.  I think it's time to organize a casual on-the-water Toyota day this summer to take over Lake WA or Lake Samm.  Stay tuned!

Hijack over.

Mine had the lines and I had it replaced. It is a Borg Warner part. Warrantee is 3yrs bumper to bumper. You sometimes have to argue with people to get things fixed, but they should honor the warrantee.

sseiber, I bought my boat at ski-masters too.  Bought mine new in 2004.  It's a 2000 model but the warranty started when I bought the boat so I'm good until 2007.  My little info center is missing a few lines as well, if it gets any worse I'll be taking it to ski-masters for warranty work.
