Hello everyone. I decided to start a build thread of my new project. It’s a 2000 s22 that I picked up with an “engine water leak”. My name is Ben and I live in Saskatoon, Sk Canada. I’m new to the Toyota Marine world but have been building other Toyotas for 20 years now. My other projects include a 1982 single turbo 2jz powered rock crawler, a 1992 Hilux ln107 double cab and a couple 70’s Fj’s. If anyone is on Instagram and want to check those out my handle is ben_teq. (I look forward to connecting with other owners).
I am starting with zero boating experience so I have a lot to learn. I want to say a big thanks for everyone who contributed to this website its been a big help so far on what direction to go.
The story on the boat is that the previous owners heat went out in his shop and the boat had not been winterized. So far I’ve backed the boat into the river to run some water through the system. It looks like the he had been trying to silicone the frost plugs back into the head. I also can see water leaking from the cross over tube from head-head. I plan to pressure test the cooling system to see if the block or heads are cracked so far no water is mixing with the oil I’m optimistic.
Stay tuned for more pictures when I get the boat in the garage next week.
