Boat Specific Parts
« on: September 11, 2009, 06:45:38 am »
Hi, I'm thinking about getting an x22 but of course worried about part availability. I searched but couldn't really find the details. I'm mainly worried about parts like the rudder, prop shaft, transmission parts, seawater pump. Are those standard marine parts or Toyota specific?

Thanks.

I've had my epic for 6 years and haven't had to buy anything "toyota marine" specific.  rudder, prop, propshaft are all standard marine parts as are the raw water pump/impeller.  The only things I worry about are the computer, exhaust manifolds, and other electronics

Make no promises but the items needed to keep the boat runing are available. Lots of exhaust Manifolds are instock( They do crack and allow water into exhaust valve. COMMON ON ALL MARINE ENGINES. The Failures I have seen have been from wakeboarding at overloaded conditions. 600 to 1200 hours, and a lack of plug changes which are needed on the engine each year. The computer has not failed.

Hey Airbeast, I am getting ready to put my X22 on the market. It is a 2000 X22 with new vinyl on the engine box, the back deck, back seat, and front bow cushions.  it also has new tower speakers, and a new IPOD controlled Kenwood stereo.  The boat is white with black graphics and has 190 hrs as of last weekend.  I will post the link to the Portland OR. Craigslist and Ebay link in the next day or two.

Cheers!

Really you're getting ready to sell your X22 man?  Bummer, I was hoping one of these years we could finally meet up for some boarding!

I want an X22 because of the tower, starting to board more...too bad theres no way my dad would go for 2 Epics.  Then we could have an Epic and a TrailBlazer tandem set!  Haha, 2 TBs is more than enough.

I will probably purchase a throttle assembly with the sensors and actuators on it. I think that stuff is marine specific. Fuel pumps are as well. There are aftermarket marine exhaust manifolds available for this engine. The gauge package servocomputer (mddc) is Toyota specific, at least for the tach input. I think you may be able to get them repaired by Medallion but I'm not sure. Other than that, some of the exterior hard trim and tower parts, graphics are all specific to each model and available from TMS. Trailer parts, ballast parts, carbon fiber dash trim (nice upgrade) biminis and covers.
