Shasta!

Last year was Powell, before that was Havasu, before that was Nacimiento.  This year my family and I are going to Lake Shasta.  It look super nice and seems to have alot of coves to ride in.  We are renting a house for a week(http://www.shastalakehouse.com/) that is on the water and has a big yard/patio/balcony for bar-b-qs and the sort.  Should be a vlast!

Anyone ever been there?  Any tips for a first-timer?

We're allegedly going to camp at Whiskeytown Lake in mid July. Haven't been there for like twenty years. I remember camping by the lake, panning for gold in a stream and picking/eating blackberries or raspberries.

Don't hang out much with this side of the family, but they used to go to Whiskeytown every summer like clockwork. They're trying to get back into it, and for this year at least, I really want to go and be the watersports show-fur.

Will be anxious to hear how your trip goes - although the campfire's really cool, so is a roof and easy showers !!!!!

I'm lucky in that I live 5min from a 55k acre lake with tons of little islands that you can camp on for free. We're only a couple of minutes away from hot showers and food (beer) stores, etc. Can't wait until it warms up a bit!
