Awesome Boat and Site
« on: February 26, 2003, 01:09:51 am »
Just thought I would make a quick note about what a great first boat our X22 has been.  I first bought a Lexus GS400 and the engine may be the best ever made.  Anyway that led to the boat.  We have put more hours in two summers than most do in 6 years.  Only minor problems.  One of the first things I did 2 years ago was head down The Wakeboard Camp in Orlando because they had Toyota Boats (By the way, PJ and the group are the best).

Nobody could be harder on boats than those guys.  They some of the first boats.  Plus they filled every boat with tons of concrete containers.  Of all the brands of boats they had the group just loved Toyota.  Why--Good solid wakes and most important they never broke down.  They first major engine problem was at around 1200 hours.

Bottom Line Thanks for the great site good idea.

Thanks, are you in Atlanta? I live on the north side of town, off Holiday Road. We bought our boat from Atl. Marine, they are great people.

Yes, we are over in Woodstock.  We mostly ride in and around Little River.  I am going to bring my boat over to Atlanta Marine this week.

My boat is in there for some warrantee work, I'm hoping to get it back today. Still a little too nippy for my season to start.

ATLbuff, I just missed you yesterday, saw your boat. It looks great! Tony (mechanic) mentioned that you had a problem with your upholstery also. It looks as if yours was replaced, is that the case and if so, have you tried to get it covered under the warrantee?

Where are the ballast controls on your boat? The 1999's had a separate console by the drivers cupholder. I took a peek in your boat and couldn't find them. Wish I had bought the swing away trailer like yours, my boat would be in the garage right now! (raining)

Yes, I saw your boat as well.  All of our upholstery is original.  I noticed some cracking last season and knew I would bring it up this year.  We keep our boat in a storage unit so the only time the boat sees the outside is when we are on the lake.  The balast control is build into the console with the lights and stuff.

By the way Tim at Proboat here in Woodstock is where I bring my boat for regular mantainance.  He is really sharp and now knows Toyota boats.  Very professional and with an appointment you are in and out the same day.

One thing that I noticed about your boat is that it doesn't have the Toyota emblem on the back seat. It also has piping in the seams of the seats, others I've seen don't have that. Yours is the newest and nicest X22 that I've seen.

I noticed that you have the brackets for the trampoline top, do you use it? Also, are your ballast controls using the accessory buttons on the lower button panel? I happened to use all three extra ones for the ballast system and stereo.

Thanks for the comments.  We try to take good care of it.  Plus we ride a ton.
Yes we use the top.  Except early and late season.
And yes that is where the controls are.

Atlantabuff --> I also have a GS400. I had it prior to purchasing the boat. How do you like your GS? Have you done anything to it?

I haven't either...I pretty much like it the way it is. Things I would like that I can't change are:
-5 speed
-2 Door

The only thing I have changed is the tires and I painted the calipers silver. I loved how the OE potenza's handled, but after switching back to them from my snow tires, they were very noisy and rough riding. I then purchased a set of Yokohama Avid H4's. 245/45/17. I like them quite a bit.

I still have my orginal tires.  50K on them and there is still some tread left.  I have never had tires last this long.  Did you paint the calipers yourself?
