Trailer: One axle or Two?
« on: August 03, 2005, 21:38:29 pm »
Hey all,

I've got an E21 with a single axle trailer. Seems like the majority of ski boats have dual axle. Always thought it seemed safer to have 4 tires sharing the load than two in a blowout situation.... Is it tongue weight as well?

Does anyone know if all E21s got single axle trailers and the bigger boats got dual? Or was I just unlucky? Seems like the 22s couldn't weigh that much more than the 21s, so I'm thinking the 21s are right at the cutoff? Anyone got any history on this?

I've got an s22 with a single axle. Don;t know whether they pulled the old switch-a-roo on me before I bought it. I guess they could have, but the boat fits pefectly on it. I worried about the same thing, but it seems they built the single axle with HUGE wheel bearings compared to the tandem ones. At least Pete's trailer has different bearing than mine. The wheels are bigger, too, I think, since the single axle has 6 lug wheels compated to 5 on the tandem.

I've had one blowout in 3 years, and that was because the stem rotted. When it blew I barely felt it and the trailer did not do anything crazy like sway wildly.

Get me your Hull Number and the trailer number. All S22 had 2x trailers with center foward roller.
