Ballast Flow Chart
« on: October 03, 2005, 15:50:44 pm »
Guys

I have my new ballast system installed.  I ran one sac to fill off the original pump line, but I could not get the sac to empty.  I noticed that Chart in the Maintenance section under Ballast, but I was not sure if that applied to my 2000 version or not.

I am basically wondering what the flow path is for the stock ballst system.  When filling, does the water enter the sac in the bottom port or the passenger side port?  When emptying, does the water exit through the passenger side port?  I need to know this so I know where I need to put my T connector and run my line to my other sac.  If any of you have knowledge with this, I would appreciate it if you could sahre that with me.  Thanks

This is the chart that I am referring to.  According to this, the inflow of water enters the bottom of the ballast tank and the outflow exits the port on the passengers side of the tank.  Now will this be true with my 2000 X22 Millennium Edition?  I would appreciate it if anyone can help me out here, so I can get my new ballast system taken care of.  Thanks.

For those of you have viewed this post interested in the solution I was searching for, here it is.  I took my trunk sac out for the winter and looked at the connections to the sac and found that the water flows into the sac in the middle port, like the diagram shows.  There is a one-way check valve that keeps the water from running back out of the sac.  Then the pumps sucks the water out of the passenger side port also like the diagram shows.  Therefore, if anyone is interested in adding ballast to their boat using the current pump, that is the data you need.

Glad you figgered it out! I made my own system, very similar. There are other pics in the diagrams from Rick that show the routing of the hoses in the boat with little arrows on them. They are on the TMS parts page.

Did your boat have two pumps like that diagram shows in the TMS Parts page?  Or did your empty line connect back with the fill line to run through the same pump?  Mine connected back with the fill line.

I made my own ballast, my boat didn't have one.
