Timing belt
« on: June 09, 2006, 02:57:55 am »
Capt. Rick, or anyone else who knows the answer...

If the timing belt breaks, will it bend valves??  Or is it like most all Toyota's and do no damage??  We are getting close to the 10 year mark, since I won't have 1000 hours before 10 years.

If the belt breaks while the engine is running ouch the valves will hit the pistons.....

If you are concerned I would remove the timing belt cover and inspect for cracks....

Thanks Capt. Rick.  I don't have any problems with it yet, but with the possibility of damage, I will certainly not miss this very important maintenance item.

What is the engine hour mark where we should get concerned about the timing belt?
