Ebay X22 from NC
« on: June 11, 2006, 20:32:32 pm »
Alright Guys- I finally drove all day yesterday to pick up my Epic in NC and got back home around 11pm.? ?Well, I am struck with Epic Fever as I woke up at 4:45 this morning to start checking her out.? I know the most of you think I shouldn't have already taken her to the Lake but she seemed like she was ready for some action.? The Epic was AWESOME- a few problems here and there but nothing that can't be worked out.? ?First, the Gauges don't work (Need an MDC for analog gauges - anyone know where to get one?) Second, the swim platform came loose and lost the screws to hold it in so I ended up taking it off completely (rough getting in and out of water.)? Third, the fat sac wouldn't fell.? Fourth, the blower sounds horrible when switched on (perhaps not even working.)? The Engine Ran Absolutely AWESOME!!! (5th) but after pulling her in she seem HOT so maybe the water pump is out or not working properly.? Sixth, due to the fact the Repo has the stereo/amp/tower speakers out noticed some smoke coming from where the amp should be so we removed the fuse (or what we believed to be the right fuse) and no smoke for the rest of the day but we checked it OFTEN...? As far as anything with the gauges (temp, oil, speed, rpm) nothing was registering.? Only the Depth finder which was a big help.? ?Now, the hull-? Is in AWESOME shape.? The gel coat is great and I would be surprised if the boat had many hours on it due to that simple fact.? The Interior- Could use a lot of TLC It appears when it was stored it had the cover on.? However it was or got wet in storage and has some mildew.? Which isn't a problem nothing that a good detail can't clean up.? However, as far as the seam in the seat they might be Dry Rotted or some form there of.? Of course the sun deck is cracking but the seats are in OKAY shape going to want to redo the entire interior of the boat when I get the money.? My Comments on it- Its worth every penny I paid and is a great fixer-up.? She was a blast to drive and in 4 hours only cost about 25bucks to refill up the gas.? ?But I have my doubts about the wiring (stereo & fat sac).? Any, help you guys have would be awesome...

Congrats on your boat, you scored an awesome deal. You will love your boat.

If you had owned the boat from new you would have replaced every single item on that list:) Typical maintenance problems for any boat. There's always the secondhand boat thing, somebody messes up wiring or doesn't leave the cover on or doesn't do regular maintenance or all of the above. All problems you mentioned are covered in the how to articles on this site.

Seats went to sheot aftert the first year on my boat That was a problem with the upholstery design of the seats, most were covered by warrantee. Blower lasted two, cheap attwood replaced with a Rule for 23$ that is twice as quiet.

The carpet is rugged, and usually can be cleaned relatively easily. Pull the engine hump and the seats, pull up all the aluminum floor panels to expose the driveline and bilge completely. Should take you ten minutes including removing the battery. I run the carpet machine inside my boat, and use the hand attachment for the corners. Or, you can use carpet detergent and a scrubrush and hose. Pull the plug first! I would NOT use a pressure washer if the carpet has stayed wet, it will make it come apart. Run the hose until its clean.

Hey, I'm doing it today, I'll take some pics:)
