Larger Fuel Tank For D-Drives
« on: July 13, 2006, 00:24:58 am »
No fuel on the lake and filling up with 5gal cans sucks. Sure wish they'd put one of those 43 gal tanks under my floor. Anyone ever look into putting in a larger fuel tank in their d-drive?

You can pull the aft seat and fuel tank and add the same tank - Just aft of the fuel tank, but you use up some of trunk space. or remove the aft seat and place tank in fron of other fuel tank. add fuel fill and 3 way valve your done....$345 plus frt and fuel fill. and fuel hoses etc or go to Costco and buy a 25 gal plastic fuel tank with pump...

Thanks Capt Rick. I now have _ _ _ _ _ _ project number one. Do you have or can you get me the measurements for that tank?  Is it a Moeller Marine Product also? I'm thinkin' aluminum rack with 3/4 inch marine plywood over the top of the tank. Then I'd still have plenty of storage or room for a sack later if need be. Be nice to fuel up once a month and have everyone  really wondering about the fuel consumption.

Mason,

You could also look into one of those Dock Buddy things which is basically a fuel tank mounted on a dolly, with a pump handle on it. You can roll it out to your boat and fill the whole thing up. Easier than putting in a new tank or dealing with 5 gallon cans....

Just please try to keep them filled when it's sitting. Maybe overkill considering we've got fuel/water separators, but just like an airplane, I don't want water condensing in any Epic's tanks.

The 43 gallons in our S22 goes a nice long weekend of cruising and riding. 43 gallons times like $3.50... Last year I boned up twice and had to buy fuel in Havasu Marina Chevron - it was like $3.75. A pair of twenties don't go very far there!
