Anyone know how to search 4 boat's history?
« on: December 06, 2003, 13:29:34 pm »
We bought our epic pretty recently. The owner said he worked for Toyota, and that this was the factory's boat. He says it was in the Gravity games in summer of '00. Very interesting and all....convinced us to buy the damn thing for sure! No problems with it, just curious about the story, or if there are any pics of our boat in the games.....Rick@ Toyota didn't have any details...

Dude, you bought the Toyota boat I was thinking of buying! I was negotiating the price when you suddenly bought it.

I live in Orlando, FL. I just bought a 1999 Epic 22 instead:

Where do you live?

Are you a big wakeboarder?

That SX sure looks sweet...

I'm interesting in searching for the boat history too and found no place online where it can be done.

That is one killer SX, if I had seen it I would have cashed in my kids' college fund and done a Buy It Now as you guys did!

;D Thanks for the compliments. My wife and I sure are proud. We still haven't even sold our I\O if you know of anyone looking for a boat. We are asking $19k (5grand below NADA) just to get rid of the guilt....and the payment! Pics are at www.wakeinnovations.com

We live in Austin, actually Lago Vista a few blocks from Lake Travis. -Couldn't afford waterfront! -Oh well, tiny house, big garage, lots of yard....all we ever do is wakeboard (even just last week) or ride dirtbikes.

We love the wake on the SX. Having a few problems with the ballast, it may just be operator error....it WAS wired backwards though!

How is the cable park in FL? We just got one...

May I ask how much did you pay?  I have a 2001 SX and was wondering.

The bank says TRADE-IN is $39 with all of these options. We weren't upset about the price, but we haven't seen any others like it to know what a used one goes for. It has 560 hours, and will have many more soon enough!

I'm glad someone else out there has the same boat. Do you ever have any unusual little problems with yours? The ballast is a little tricky to figure out, mainly because the LED display isn't lit to tell us how full we are.

If you have any advice or specifics about SX's, I'd appreciate your time!

Thanks!

That's lots of hours for a Fred Flinstone, cast iron block typical Malubu, Incorrect Craft, or Mastercash. Not a lot of hours for a toyota, only 2.25 oil changes vs 11 for one of the others (heretofore known as "Brand X")

Water is seeping from either your shaft seal (easily adjusted) or possibly your speedo system (check the brass tubes in the trunk)
or from a leak in your ballast system. (empty it, isolate it with the hand valve and drive around to see if you are still taking on water)

See the how to page for pics, if you do some work and you have a digital camera take pics and I'll put them up. The more pics of Epics of all stripes we have the better this site will be for everyone.

Check your bilge pump to verify it was wired correctly, if it turns on with water in the bilge and pumps out, it's working. Lots of them were wired backwards from the factory. I replaced mine, I think I posted pics or I will soon when I return from beautiful Texarkana, Tex.

Already tightened packing on shaft, haven't driven around with the hand valve switched to off yet though. Too damn cold. I keep having to fix it on land...not enough time to drive two blocks down the road before it's dark believe it or not.
Do you think it could be coming in from the intake valve on the port side...maybe a leak? It already had so much water coming in I couldn't tell, and it's hard to get to those tanks...grrrrr.

Rick sent us another owners manual instead of a mechanic's manual, and Atlanta marine won't return my emails.

Thanks for the helpful info. Have a good time in Texarkana, that's where I bought my first dirtbike trailer. I'm on Lake Travis, Austin and my brother was born in Beaumont...I thought I saw that someone on the site lived there...

I'll have to email you personally with the addt'l information I think is too large to post about ballasts, showers, heaters, etc.

Thanks again,

If you can't get what you need from the dealer via email call ATL marine during the day and tell them you need parts, etc. for a Toyota. Ask for Tony for tech support. He is a good mechanic and will get the parts or manuals you need on order. 678. 482.6499
