First time the gr8dna's been out since Christmas, and she did great. The 1400 lbs of Bumps were no match for our screamin 4-cam Lexus.
Cal'd the speedo for the first time (before the other dudes got there), checked fluid levels after the (late) annual service. Three flavors of Mobil 1 at just the right height. BTW, when matched to GPS at wakeboard speed, the speedo is optimistic by four mph at top-end, and pessimistic by a couple at kneeboard speed. Mapped rpm and speed AFTER calibrating at 3,000 rpm (~24 mph):
RPM Indicated True
2000 7.6 9.5
2500 16.5 17.7
3000 23.8 24.1
3500 29.0 28.9
4000 34.3 32.6
4500 38.0 36.0
5000 42.5 38.9
5500 45.3 41.3
5780 46.9 42.8

I buzzed around on an off for about 45 minutes while checking levels, calibrating and mapping, then returned to the ramp to pick up the crew and fill sacks. The engine did real good with the weight, the wake was really fun for me. By the end of the day, the meter was 4.0 hrs higher. All together, she burned 3.7 gallons per hour. Assuming that the 45 minutes shouldn't really count towards GPH since I wasn't ballasted, I recomputed at 3.5 hours, but fuel burn was still at an amazing 4.0 GPH!!! Pretty good for 1400 lbs, huh?
Got sunburned too....
One of the guys has a whole stack of sacs, and next time he rides, we're gonna tryadding weight bac by the engine. I think that two fat buddies (~300 lbs each) in the v-drive compartments would work pretty good: bring the weight up to 2K and still maintain good balance. The boat came out of the hole really good, so it shouldn't be an issue in that regard. when Sean was riding at 80 feet and 22mph, he said the wake just wasn't very firm at the top. Ended up bringing it in ten feet and slowing to 20 mph - voila a SAN wake. Don't get me wrong, I'm getting booted everywhere, but I ain't a discriminating wake whore.
Speedo needle sometimes displays something other that what's displayed on the message center. Was like that last outing too, but about halfway through yesterday, started working correctly again. Go figure. Wish the depth finder would fix itself too.
