engine cooling system for epics

hi i am just wondering what sort of cooling system the toyota v8 users is it a pressurised system with a heatexchanger or does the lake water cool the engine down with no heatexchanger. and what is the running temp of the engine thanks hope to hear yous soon

Toyota Marine did offer a closed-loop system (think that lake water cooled the antifreeze via a heat exchanger.) Without the option, we've got lake water pulled by the water pump through a strainer. Water also goes through exchangers for tranny and v-drive, but I'm notsure how that's plumbed.

Mine runs at 169 degrees.

year thanks for the reply i run engine coolant threw a heat exchanger and the river water cools the coolant down same with the transmission. I have to move the exchanger higher above the engine so there is more head of coolant because its running a bit hot 195to 200  there must be a bit of an air pocket there. its been hard to work out the cooling system for marine use because when i fitted the 1uzfe v8 to the boat we thort that we were the only ones doing this until i saw the epics toyota boats on this site I could not bileve it i was stocked to see these engines in other boats so thats why i am asking all these questions to see how toyota marine have done it so thank you for the replys it will help us in australia use a diffrent engines than the old tow truck chev engines imported from the usa. they are a good engine but i think that the toyota v8s have more potential plus they are a few thousand$ cheaper it fit. i have got some pictures of the boat. i have got to get my Mrs to help me because i am shit on the computer but they will be the next day or two.

That's funny: Lexus motors cheaper than GM. For a given amount of cash, you could get so much more power out of a regular V8.

We love our engines because they're silky smooth, fuel efficient, smart, unique, compact, light, trouble-free, awesome sounding and oh yeah...they're Toyota. Would've never expected there to be any place in the world (except maybe in Tokyo) that a 32-valve, VVT, eight-coil aluminum engine could be had cheaper than a cast iron 5.7L.

year i know what you mean about the chevs i know it sounds funny but the old towtruck motors that are in 90% of the skiboats are about 3 to5 thousand$ reco and that is not marinised and there is another 3 to 4 thousand$ to marinised them and that is with no reverse gear that is an exta 3000$ for a velvet drive and its still a push rod cast iron v8 with a carby lt1 and ls1s are 6000$ plus just the engine. so to marinise a 1uzfe is half the price the engines are 1000$ with about 60 thousand km on them an after market ecu is 1000$ and marine gear is about 2000$ and they are what you said smooth and half the weight. the only thing they lack in is torque that the chev has so thats why i supercharged it. and that costed 1000$. and that will give me more torque and hp. the prices of chev engines in australia is a joke

Well, keep on with it brother. We all want the full writeup when it's done. Did you happen to dyno before the blower? Are you scared of tuning the thing (ECU maps, etc.)?

no i didnt dyno it befour the blower. the engine is so easy to tune i take the laptop in the boat screw the air/fuel ratio sensor into the exhast then i do the fuel and ignition maps towing slalom skiers wake boarders and barefooting until i have got the air fuel ratio i want about 12.5% A/F then i tune it at W.O.T the ecu is unreal to play with i will try to send you the whole map

jordy, most lexus i have seen run at about 90deg c with a heat exchanger. temp sits rock solid, at wot might move 2 deg c
