Tracking Fin Installation

First off I would like to thank Festivus for the in depth explanation on a previous forum topic.  If it hadn't been for that thread I would have had to learn the hard way how to install this tracking fin.  I ended up using stainless steel 1/4" x 11/2" pan head phillips machine screws.  I used a tap and die set from the hardware store and went after it.  The tap required a 5.1 millimeter drill bit.  I refused to go through all the hassle of taking out my gas tank just for this.  The worst thing that could possibly happen was I drilled through my gas tank and I think I would notice that.  I took the risk and came out on top.  I was very very careful drilling the holes.  My only suggestion is to drill and tap one hole then secure the fin in place and align it perfectly.  Then start the three other holes.  Remove fin and finish drilling and tapping the remaining holes.  I applied some sealant as suggested and then tightened it down by hand to be sure I didn't strip the screws.  Everything came out great and only took about 45 minutes.  I am pleased.  The nicest suggestion I saw on the forum was common sense but commonly overlooked, don't drill 1 1/2" only drill the depth that the screw needs to penetrate the hull, this ended up being 1 1/4" for me.  Taking her out tomorrow for a test run.
