I think Aaron has me beat with "Custom" design and the work on the Supra looks professional.  I haven't had any legit decibel readings yet, but I would like to.  Glad to see all the Epics getting some sweet sound systems, K-town has a nice little setup also, but he needs to post some pics as well.

<- Begin long winded post!!!

lesman:  I tin foiled this portion of the hull and locker and laid in there for the better part of an hour Houdini style with a gas mask on as I applied the first fiberglass mat and resin to make the bottom part of the shell.  Once it dried I plucked it out of there and then stretched fleece over the top and applied more resin, let dry then more glass and resin.  First iteration was to small for the sub so I cut out a hole on the top and used a piece of Tupperware to mold a bigger space for the sub.  Hence the bump on the top and the crazy none symmetrical shape.  I suppose I could mold it and figure something out, something new to learn!  "If" I where to do it again I think I would probably do it behind the false wall in the locker where Pete put his extra battery in his old boat.  More room back there for a bigger enclosure, and would probably be able to get closer to the q factor for the sub.  I think the punch was .75 cubic feet for the smallest size of a sealed enclosure and this one is .68.  One thing I do know from this project is that working with resin and fiber glass sucks and I pretty much never want to do it again.

flyn2001:  I hear you on the cramped space in that locker.  I reworked all of the wiring that I had done by a reputable local installer in Seattle.  They ran the wire poorly and did not take advantage of the built in conduit on the upper part of the inside of our hulls.  Pain in the butt and I have enough bruises to prove it.  To bad I did not figure out till the end of the project I had plenty of help inside the house that was busy playing with crayons and blocks.  Should have busted out this secret weapon way earlier in the project.   ;)

Cal:  Thanks for the compliments.  I have seen/heard the quality or your work in the old Epic and the new Supra.  Both are fantastic and I am sure the sand bar for the next round up will appreciate it as well.  Hopefully this year I can at least stay sober long enough past noon to comprehend it is easier to get the boat back on the trailer before the sun sets.

Steve:  Still laughing about the EMP, glad you like it...  I don't have a db meter but how about I turn it up on Friday at 5pm and you let me know if you hear it down at Mason lake.   :D

Pete:  Nice work on the sub.  I find that most of my projects somehow originate from your ideas and they always make the boat better (as long as I don't tangent from them to far).  Next phase HK D+P with pass through for multi-boat hookup.

Cal did you say dual RCA's, RJ45 or 3.5mm head phone jack?

End long winded post ->

Aaron, that is sweet.  Hanna likes the picture of your little helper.  :)

The H/K Drive +Play uses a mini-headphone jack output which I split with a Monster Y-splitter connected to RCA cables that wired into the RCA inputs on the deck.  The install is very easy.  Hope that is what you were asking...?

Of all the cool and time-consuming crap I did to my boat, the thing that gets the most attention is the H/K Drive + Play.  For whatever reason, the ladies love it...    8)

Had a sweet day on the boat w/ the fam today.  Things were great, right up to the point where I torched my amp that runs the tower speakers.  I think this thing has been the root of all my problems from the beginning, I was just blind to it's issues.  The tower speakers were still cutting out at higher power settings (when the boat was turned off).  I have lots of friends running stereos similar to me without any capacitors and they don't have cutting out probs.  Today, my 4 tower speakers just stopped working period.  I checked the capacitor that is in line just a foot away from the amp and it was on w/ full power ready to rock.  The amp however was not on and not pulling any juice from the cap.  It was working about 45 min prior, but I think it finally gave up, er..burned up.  Did our boats come stock with these Kenwoods?  Nonetheless, I just bought a Sony Xplod to replace it with.   I plan to install tomorrow, I will let you know the outcome.  Other than this minor issue, the boat ran great, as expected!!  It is soooo funny how people trip out over these boats.  "Damn dude, I didn't even know Toyota made boats!!"  Haha..Sweet!

One drawback...$4.19 a gallon (super) here in Del Rio!!
