depends how bad it is. you can be mild or get freakin crazy. I use 3M products most of the time.

mild- good rubbing compound followed by polish and wax

moderate- 3M heavy compound, polish, wax

freakin crazy- color sand with 600 grit or higher, polish, wax  did it to my first epic. looked brand new when i was done. its ALOT of work but looks awesome.
OVER 800 HRS ON 2 EPICS.

I hit my 99 E22 Charcoal on Surf with heavy duty polishing compound 2 springs ago and man did it look amazing.  Even with a nice coat of Megs wax though, and another wax coat last year Im still not happy with the color.  Hopefully this summer Ill be able to wetsand the whole boat but thats only if I can get some other projects done first.  Have my 3/4 finished wood tunnel hull sitting in the basement and need to get all the 100k maintenance done on my tow rig before I can attack either boat.  Both need a bunch of hours to throw at them I simply dont have.
