need help 2 new problems tonight on the first time out
« on: May 20, 2009, 03:05:54 am »
took my epic 21 out for the first time tonight.  forgot one hose.  oops water spraying but the alarms told me it was off.  i will probably replace my impeller cause it was without water at high rpm.   one issue.  the large hose that comes off the exhaust manifold came off.  i have never loosened it before.  so i had my trusty screwdriver and put the clamps back on.  under acceleration it rumbled and came off again.  it looks like there is also a type of glue on the inside am i right or do i just need to clamp them down like crazy.

Next i have nothing but trouble with my trailer.  i think the brakes are getting in a locked position.  abouve 45 they start getting hot.  i had them repacked and new ones put in 2 years ago.  the grease is looking good.  i put in 3 pumps every time out.  is there any docs or pics to show me how to maintain the actuator on the trailer?  any info would be great as i plan on taking it up north this weekend and i dont want to do a reapair on the way up there.  please help!!!

Trailer Maintenance (PDF)
See this in the Maintenance section of the site. I would bleed off the brakes and make sure the caliper pistons are moving like they should. I trailer about 1,500 miles per year so brake bleeding and bearing repacks are an every year event for me.

Regarding your exhaust hose I don't have a clue, but i would try to crank those hose clamps real tight and try again.

If you ran the engine without water to cool the exhaust the hoses will burn up inside and be brittle and black. Remove and inspect. Also very severe lack of water will melt the fiberglass exhaust from start to outlet on transom.

I've seen the exhaust hose collapse on the inside before on an Epic. It causes a blockage and the hose pops off again. It should be replaced.

CYCLONE you hit it on the head.  it ripped and then collapsed and needs to be replaced.  now here is the question it is a 3" hose is this a common part that i could get at another ski boat dealer?  i am neat skipper buds in milwaukee.  or is this going to be a custom part i will need from captain rick?   ill call around but if you can save me time i would appreciate it.  Thanks again to everyone!!!
