« on: July 01, 2009, 05:03:26 am »

I may have a bad habit but i never turn off the battery switch. I would double check the fluid level in the battery. mine was doing the same thing thought i had a bad battery, topped off the fluid and recharged. performed a load test and to even my suprize it was back strong. the noise you may be hearing could be the low battery alarm.

on a side note if you have a factory depth finder Toyota wired them incorrectly and the transducer stays on even though the screen is off. this could slowly drain a battery and definitly wear out that tranducer. switch the power wire from the constant power terminal to switched ignition terminal on DECC. Problem fixed ;D

thanks for the help.  On the depth finder I see two wires small in diameter one black and one red and one that is cut off in the wire sheath.  Is the red wire the one you are talking about.  I need to connect it to a wire that is only on with the ignition?

Nate- you definitly have the right wire. if i remember correctly and dont quote me, always test with a test light or voltmeter i think the purple wire on the DECC is switched ignition (12 volts only when the key is on). keep us posted.

Yes, low battery alarm. if you have the millennium dash the switch panel to the left of the steering wheel will flash all buttons, this  accompanied by a relay type clicking sound. my old 99 e22 did not have this feature because it was before the millennium dash.
