ok need gauge help. searched and searched found nothing
« on: July 30, 2009, 17:53:06 pm »
I have a 99 epic 21.  i know there are all kinds of fixes for the 2000+ with attaching to the DECC.   the 99 does not have posts to attach a ground cable that i can see.  my oil gauge is going a little flaky and now my temp gauge seems to run high even though i just replaced the thermostat.  does anyone know who has a 99 know what to do.  do i just need to run a new ground cable to my battery.   if so where do i attach it.  or do i need to run power to it.  PLEASE PLEASE HELP!!

Do you have the MDC like in this thread's picture?

More pictures of the item in question and what does it do.

I think there is a PDF instruction sheet somewhere on the site, maybe in the maintenance section with how to run the wire from the Perko to the box with a larger gauge wire.

the oil presure sending unit capt. mentioned above fixed my oil pressure gauge problems.  Have you replaced the raw water imeller along with the thermostat?

All, The 99 epics do not have a DECC to connect the ground leed to. But it is a better idea to put a ground block and attach all the ground leeds to it. Then Run a ground from the battery or block to the ground connector.

There is ONE ground lead going into the MDC unit. I ran mine straight from the battery to the MDC however I DO agree with Cpt Rick that the best way is to run to a terminal strip and pull grounds from that.
