Parts for Epic Boats
« on: August 01, 2009, 03:51:49 am »
Good News and Bad News:

I have been advised that parts will be available for another 6 Months. After that ???.

There are 1540 part numbers and 32,667 items in stock.
Current supper special 1 left
MPE0011853   1.000   TowTower,S22,SX22,AnnodizedAluminum retail 2377.55  special $1,783.16  $125.00 1st  $1500 takes it.

So here is some of the possiblities.
  A. Buy the parts you need as spares. I will make a list of high turnover parts. I will limit frt to posted frt amount.
  B. Do not do anything.
C I need to look for a 4000 square foot warhouse to store the parts.
If I have to rent a place then the prices will go up about 40 % TO COVER ADDITIONAL COST.

Capt Rick .

Has it been 10 years?  I would happily pay more for the parts if I had too.  If you don't warehouse the parts, where will they go?  What parts are Toyota specific that we may need in the next 10 years or so.
I have already stocked up on some Toyota specific parts, what else do you think I, or anyone else may need.

if parts were supposed to be available for 10 years, I have a 2001, and a friend has a 2002, that doesn't equal ten years..  nothing we can do I guess, but where are the parts that are left, where are they going?

have you contacted former dealers like Seattle Watersports to see if they could inventory them?

Capt, would you be able to list the high turnover parts you were mentioning. I would definitely be interested in trying to stock up a little before this does happen. Thanks...Ty

Yeah, same here.

I'd imagine there's plenty of things we probably oughta have, that we can't get later at the dealer.

If we have 18 mos. to plan and buy our parts, fair enough. I've got a few already, others on a pretty short list.

Just an idea...anyone interested in a bunch of us forming an LLC that we all chip a little bit into and own a piece of it.  It could own the parts, and the only way you get parts is to be a member or pay a premium.  This does 2 things.
1.  Keeps parts around for all o fus.
2.  Drives up the value of the boats as time passes because these are rare and will be collector items, and keeps the control in our hands...who knows, 20 years from now maybe Toyota may want to buy it back for their own history sakes.

We'd need to understand the operating cost of warehousing and order fulfillment. And, what is the capital value of the parts themselves? Who "owns" them. Does toyota? Has toyota already written these off their books? or did they sell them all to the drop shipper who expects to be paid for them?  Many questions!

Capt rick would know.
