Need a new Motor
« on: June 21, 2010, 20:30:16 pm »
So posting for a friend his toyota epic 21 direct drive motor had some piston to valve issues ( they hit each other).

So anyways he needs a new motor, Can you use a used car engine? Or does any one have a source on where to buy one of these?

so the pistons are messed up too? valves are not as strong as pistons. i had this same issue but no damage to pistons. just a lil mark or two on a bunch. but if there is no visible cracks in those pistons they are just fine. get the heads rebuilt slap em back on and hit the lake!

The automotive and marine versions use the same block and both have a 10:1 compression ratio.  I would be curious to know if the cams are the same???

The Marine engine has 135 specific componants >
computer, head gaskets,
The block is the same as a Lexus Ls400 with VVTI >
The are still complete engines available with transmissions.  Contact Capt Rick boatetrade@aol.com...
One engine failed recently from salt water usage. The manifold allowed water into cylinder, The timing belt pulley frooze. shreeded belt. Remember this is an all aluminum engine and salt water doesnt mix. I have one direct drive without a transmission available.
