99 Epic 21. Idles but goes dead when try to go. Fuel pressure stays at 50 or so lbs even when it goes dead.
No check engine light comes on, except when the engine dies. No codes stored in ECM.
I have not been able to figure out why.
Can anyone give me a suggestion.
Thanks

Try cleaning the MAF Sensor and/or changing the plugs.

Is this the first time you've had it out for the year? Might also be bad gas if it wasn't stabilized.

It might be a problem with the throttle motor or throttle position sensor. It sounds like it's in "limp ho
e" mode

I'm going to second ktdust. Remove the spark arrestor by lifting the two long aluminum rods. Look into the intake at the MAF - I picked a dust bunny/ghost turd and it ruined operation above idle. It's good practice to clean your spark arrestor annually anyway. While you're there, you could pull the intake off and clean the lip of the butterfly valve (another thing to clean every couple years).

I just started running with 2.5 year old fuel w/o stabilizer, fully expecting it was going to ruin my low-time iridium plugs. No problem so far, runs perfect. Perfect.

I'm not up to speed on the fuel pumps but recall there are two and one can be out. I know there's lots of discussion on the site.

Remember that if there's anything wrong with your engine, you should try plugs.

Have you change your fuel/water separator? 50 psi of fuel + water could be a bad thing :-)

Let us know when you find it!

just a trick i did for the air filter. i was tired of cleaning all the belt dust out of it and cleaning the throttle body and maf. so i cut two foot ends off some panty hose to cover it. i was shocked after a day out on the lake how much crap it has caught. but so far so good!
