New the the Epic community

I recently bought (yesterday) a 2002 SX22 from 60drive (I believe that is his SN on here).  We went out today for the first time on it and had a blast! What an awesome boat!!!

I have been trying to read about all the little issues that these boats need to have sorted out on them.  This boat has a few little quirks that need to be worked out.

1. The two 6 switch panels on the dash intermittently work, some time they just flash all the lights red, but most times do not work at all.  I read something about running an 8 ga wire to the dash to help with a voltage drop, I am fairly certain that has not be done on this boat, but Im not sure that is the what is causing the switch panels not to work.  Is it just a matter of the panels are bad and need to be replaced??  Any ideas for this would be great!

2.  Docking lights in the front and the swim platform light seem to be allowing water to get into them, has anyone dealt with that,  I planed to just take the lenses off and silicon around them and put it back together.

3.  The boat doesnt seem to go straight with the steering wheel in the center position, I figure it is just an adjustment, but I wanted to check if I should be concern that the engine is not aligned properly or something?

4.  The internal ballast tank has a leak, but I read 60drive's post about this and will look into it more.

Thanks in advance for the support.  I tried searching for the switch panel issue and didnt have any luck, I need to search some more for the other issues I have listed and I will, but if some knows of a thread addressing anything  and could point me to it, that would be great!  Thanks in advance for the help!!

HEY! welcome to the site and community!

You might try pushing together all the white connectors under the dash, tightening the power lugs on the digital switchbox where the black and red power wire terminates. It's probably just a loose connection

Remove the docking lights and stern light and put some silicone around them, they probably weren't sealed from the factory.

Ski boats don't go straight generally with the wheel straight because they are designed that way. The rudder is tuned so that the wheel holds tension on the rudder while running straight to hold the line through a slalom course better. Keeps the rudder from drifting with the little bit of mechanical slop that is in there.

There are quite a few posts about the insides of the tanks and possibilities for fixing them, finding leaks etc. Search function works really well here.

Once again, welcome to the site!!

Thanks for the reply.  I will check everything you suggested.

I have done some searching on the other topics and found some good information, but I appreciate the info you provided.  My main purpos of the post was to introduce myself to the form and see if anyone has some quick infor related to some of the issues I was facing.  From here forward I will search the form extensivly before posting up anything.
