Transmission Oil Change -- Does the engine need to be warm?

Planning on changing the tranny oil this weekend on the Epic 21. One quick question: Do I need to warm up the engine prior to the change?

Highly recommended. Easier to pump and it takes less time when it's warm.

As a folllowup -- Do I need to have the boat in gear or if the engine is running and warm then the tranny oil will be warm?

I read the instructions on the maintenance guide about changing the transmission oil. There is no mention of sucking the oil through the dip stick tube. Is that an appropriate way to remove the old transmission oil or do I have to use the transmission fill plug that is in the manual?

Remove trans. filter cover(right side of trans) with allen wrench, may need to chip away a little coating to break it loose.  Remove filter and clean then suck up the fluid.
