guages not working
« on: May 30, 2013, 21:02:56 pm »
i bought my boat a month and a half ago, only guage working at that time was the gas and rpm. now only guage working is the gas, i'd really love to know what the oil pressure is at least...makes me nervous not knowing that, volt meter would be nice to know too, any suggestions on what i need to buy and where? marina said oil pressure guage part was aroud 100 bucks for his other boats, but he wasn't sure about the epic, wonder if capt rick might have what i need? thanks for the help.

all gauges should be available through Captain Rick. I would put in a GPS speedo or Perfect Pass for that one. There is a manual on the web site how to check the gauges

It's not exactly easy, but you can check by: go to the epicmarine.com home page; go to buy parts; download the 'all figures as .pdf' & the 'Marine_Parts_List.xls'  files; open the 69 MB DPF & scroll through the figures in the PDF (Adobe) to find pictures of the part(s) of interest; open the XLS (Excel) file to the Fig tab at the bottom; match & copy the Item_ID number to the corresponding Number (in the PDF & the XLS column); paste the Item_ID number back in the Description box and press the 'Search for Part' button.

If I did everything correctly, Capt Rick has the following:
Part No.           Description                                                                               Fig  Num  Original $  Shipping
MGA0010915  Speedometer, Secondary, Early Dash, 3", 50 MPH, Black               15   32       89.67     15.00
MGA0010916  Tachometer, Early Dash, 3", 6000 RPM, w/Hour Meter, Black         15   33     126.28     15.00
MGA0010914  Speedometer, Primary, Early Dash, 3", 50 MPH, Black                  15   34       89.67     15.00
MGA0010920  Gauge, Water Temp, Early Dash, 2" Face, Black                          15   35       55.78     15.00
MGA0010919  Gauge, Oil Pressure, Early Dash, 2" Face, Black                          15   36       55.78     15.00
MGA0010917  Gauge, Fuel, Early Dash, 2" Face, Black                                     15   37       55.78     15.00
MGA0010918  Gauge, Volt, Early Dash, 2" Face, Black                                     15   38       55.78     15.00

Total $528.74 (472.96 without the fuel gauge since still working) + shipping

Capt Rick will combine orders to save on shipping, but better ask him directly.  I feel your pain on all this since everyone of my gauges had to be replaced, plus the MDC that cost:
Part No.           Description                                                                                    Fig  Num  Original $  Shipping
MGA0010911  MDC, 1999 Instrumentation Compute, Early 7 Gauge Dash, 99, 00 MY  10   2       289.50       15.00

The gauges and computer are manufactured by Medallion.  Generally, few were very happy with the gauges; although I found the people at the company helpful when I shipped everything to them to find: everything was broken except the hour meter and Medallion couldn’t fix anything - everything had to be replaced.  So now I have a box of broken gauges around here somewhere if you want them.  ;D

Man I really appreciate what you did there, very complex! I guess I better learn to do that if I own this boat long! The marina said he checked the computer component and it was fine. I'll pass on the box full of broken gauges, looks like ill have my own soon enough. It's a good thing the hour meter doesn't go out as easily as the other gauges! So once you replace them, they should last a while right? I fort got to mention that the temp gauge works also.

They've lasted 4 years so far because the new gauges were ordered 5/19/09 and installed a couple weeks later.  At the time, Capt Rick was having a sale and I picked up 33-35 off ebay for $100; everything including $15 shipping was $332.25.  So, maybe I didn't feel all your pain!

When the gauges don't work on my E22, they are usually just disconnected behind dash.
