rear bulkhead removal on SX22
« on: August 06, 2013, 01:46:42 am »
I need to replace my serpentine belt on my 2001 SX22.  After 12 years it finally shredded.  Does anyone know how to remove the bulkhead right behind the engine?

Should be three screw caps (black covers) located on the upper part of the bulkhead tied into the fiberglass (accessible from the back trunk.  Should also be one screw on each side on the lower part of the bulkhead fastened by an angle bracket to the floor (accessible on each side of the engine).

Once the screws are removed, then you can pull the lower section of the bulkhead back into the trunk and access the belt.

Also the two side panels secured with thumb screws, and recall the pneumatic trunk lid piston bracket has long screws that bite into the bulkhead.

Just had to replace mine as well.  Took all the screws out but took a lot of force (punching/kicking) to get it off.  In the end we didn't even remove it all the way.  Just gave us enough room to get one person on each side and replace the belt.
