Best surf with minimal ballast
« on: August 17, 2015, 05:06:06 am »
So with the S22 I have have the best surf with minimal ballast at #800. #400 in driverside engine storage and #400 behind driver.

I had fun surfing for 20 minutes with no rope and I am 190#.

I have had great surf with 2000 lbs but with less than 1000 this is the best setup I have found.

After many years of trial, I've found wave much cleaner, longer and  with more push with surf tabs. I usually put about 2000lbs evenly in lockers and the back trunk. No more leaning. No more ballast to trip over. I live in Denver,so need to use high altitude prop. Running 3800-4100 rpm depending on additional people.

You bought the Mastercraft surf tabs right? Did you have to make any special parts or was it a direct fit?

No, I bought aluminum sheets and cut it, 14x22 inches, drilled holes for fins, and used 2" L shape brackets as fins. Saw gosurfassist installation YouTube video, and pretty easy to do. U just have to move swim platform inside and raise it by 3-4 inches to accommodate the tabs. Here is the initial drawing on a tab. But I am still adjusting fin angles
